I Just KNEW it!

I’m jumping up and down – GIDDY with excitement!!! Yes, I have an other little small-world gem to share.

So as you may or may not know and/or care, I’ve been in the world o’blog since June or July of this year.  Via the blog of one of my dearest friends, karenlessscripted, I’ve become acquainted with a most awesome blogger, Runningonsober.

I’m convinced that we’d have been friends in high school, she wore/wears Doc Martins, prom dresses from Hot Topic and likes the Butthole Surfers.  Those three items would pretty much seal-the-deal.

One thing that she always comments about on my blog (another reason I just LOVE her – she comments!) are my small world stories. I seem to have a ton of them.  When I’m not actively collecting crazies off the street; I’m finding out the most amazing connections between people.

Soooooo – one day  Runningonsober was nominated for a (well deserved) blog award. And one of the things she did was reveal some interesting tidbits about her self as per the ‘instructions’ of being a recipient of the award.

I hope by now you can see where this story is going….

Her first tidbit went like this – and I quote:

In my past life (i.e. a few years ago), I was a semi-pro poker player.

HOLY CRAP- THERE IT IS!!!!!  I couldn’t type in my question FAST ENOUGH!

Q: Let’s see if we can find the SMALL WORLD CONNECTION….
OK – Do you know a Huck Seed from your Poker days?

Of course she did!
A: Huck Seed? Huckleberry? Yes ma’am. Tall as the sky and on the quiet side. I didn’t know him well, but he was always very friendly to me. And freaky smart.

Ok – I don’t know Huck Seed, per se, but his cousin is one of my very dear & wonderful friends. She was a Seed too…just not a Huckleberry, Cotton or Caraway Seed… I consider THAT a close enough connection.

DID YOU HEAR THAT KEVIN BACON??? I don’t need no six stinkin’ degrees…two to three work just fine.

Wow late to the party here and love the descriptions being bandied about by my lovely and wonderful Canadian bloggers/friends and you too of course, Ruta. I have discovered Running on Sober as well. She is gracious enough to leave me comments and I must follow her as well.

Butthole Surfers and dock martins make give me high school flashbacks (that have nothing to do with the LSD I was also taking at the time … aaahhh misspent youth).
I love the small world stories, and I’m even happier that they have nothing to do with faeries or gnomes. I know that you have people in Ottawa, and I grew up near Ottawa, so your people and me probably spent time in the same places, like Hwy 417. SO AMAZING.

    • It’s like we’re cousin-buttholesurfer-sisters. Well, if you know any Bova’s, they might belong to me. I’ve only met a cousin of my father’s (and that cousin’s nephew) once as an adult.
Please kiss Hwy 417 for me – but no where the skunk was killed in ’07 – I wish I was in Canadialand right now….

  3. I liked Pepper and Jesus Built My Hotrod. I’m sorry to be so lame.

“Collecting crazies off the street…” Hey, I resemble that remark!

I think it’s so cool that you wrote about this. I love random connections! I’m sure we’d have many many more. (I used to call on Circle K Corp, I may have even met you at a Circle K gas pump or sumthin’.)

Of course we’d be best buds in school; we just got a late start, that’s all!

Loved the post… Keep ’em coming!

  5. That’s VERY cool!!! All of a sudden the world shrinks down to a manageable size, right? It’s comforting. Good detective work on your part, I might add.

I liked for two reasons: Six degrees of Kevin Bacon and Butthole Surfers. 🙂

I have often used my 2-degree connection to Huck Seed for conversational fodder!
Zann (Lisa’s mother-in-law, who also just loves those Seed sibling names!)

  8. Cool. Huck Seed is awesome.

The Kevin Bacon thing you have to Xplain to me…I’m oblivious to this – but I don’t want to be! It’s Kevin Bacon!

Divulge your thoughts...
